Addicted To Beauty With Dianne York-Goldman
October 11, 2009
Today, I must admit I feel a bit hesitant to drink any liquid whatsoever…Yes water is the nectar of the gods, but considering I am a walking pin cushion after my most recent Botox treatment, I wonder (never short of OUT LOUD) if I may end looking like a Grecian Fountain… Line free, crack free and ooh so deliciously wrinkle free… Now let me set the record straight:
- I can raise my eyebrows
- I can raise my eyebrows
- I can raise my eyebrows
Annnnnywayyyy enough about me and more about my new SDSSQAGBFF or (Smart, Driven, Socialite, Slightly Quirky, Always Gorgeous Best Friend for Ever, Dianne York-Goldman – President/CEO - La Jolla Spa MD (Now that’s the kind of blatant plug I lovvvvvvvve).

So what’s the buzz on a CEO…Oh Ye of little face Dianne is so much more! If “ugly is the new pretty”, no one has told her, nor have they told the cast of her reality show blockbuster Addicted to Beauty brought to you by none other than Oxygen! OHHHH how deliciously cliché!
FACTOID ALERT: Recognized internationally as a media expert, speaker, author, model and businesswoman. Dianne is the creator of the popular DYG Mineral Makeup line. She was a recipient of the San Diego Business Journal’s “Women Who Mean Business” award and co-authored the popular You Glow Girl! Series. In addition, she founded You Glow Girl, a teenage skin care company, and authored Fun in the Sun Safely.
Blah, Blah, Blah ADORRRRRRRRE her and her sense of self and selfless sense, Dianne IS the urban legend in the uber fab flesh… She has FILLER in the soles of her feet! Watch out Dr Scholl’s Dianne is taking no prisoners and walking on air!
I admit it, I did not know what to expect… Would I be talking to a shrewd businesswoman? A Socialite who was “lite” on brain cells? Or just an unbelievably gorgeous woman who had stumbled into something and was holding on to her 15 minutes of fame?
So let me be VERY clear! Sharp as a tack, delightful, honest and sincere as the day is long – I was talking to Wonder Woman! But beg as I might, I did not get a ride in her invisible plane or get to play in her high heeled boots- YET!
At a time when the rule of thumb seems to be “no good news is no news at all”, Dianne is living proof that all of us can do anything and have a lot more we still need to do.
Am I the only one who has noticed how dynamic she is? Nope…Take a look:

Oxygen pulls back the curtain on the tantalizing world of medi-spas with the reality workplace dramedy series; “Addicted to Beauty.”
“Addicted to Beauty” follows the outrageous staff at Changes Plastic Surgery and Spa, located in Southern California. Dianne York-Goldman, socialite and marketing expert, has brought her over-the-top employees from her previous spa to help with this new venture with well-known plastic surgeon Dr. Gilbert Lee. The staff includes: Gary, the flamboyant and outspoken receptionist; Ronnie, the eccentric concierge; Natasha, Dianne’s levelheaded assistant and Shannyn, the whip cracking spa manager. However, this group may be no match for Melanie (aka, “Mel”), Dr. Lee’s no nonsense office manager who is not afraid of giving out tough love…

As our discussion came to an end I must admit I wanted to keep talking. Not only was I getting inside information on what to do and what NOT to do regarding my pin cushion (I mean face), but I felt I was talking to a woman of substance, a kindred -quirky spirit and someone who I would definitely like to speak with further…
Dianne, keep on writing, keep on creating, keep on keeping us beautiful and most of all – Keep us laughing!
I adore you!

Holding Out For A Hero And I Found One
September 28, 2009
When Footloose the movie exploded onto the scene, I was “holding out for a hero” (and maybe I still am). Last week the new season of Heroes was launched and as they continue to endeavor to “save the cheerleader and save the world…” I must admit after Season I – I have continued to watch, but until Ray Park it was out of respect for the past rather than the present and what I believed to be the future.
So after an ugly knock down drag out with a treadmill that seemed to have no idea WHO I WAS – One that beat my !@# down reminding me the “junk in my trunk” was well still junk…I was thrilled to answer a call of the wild and evoke my Wonder Twin powers transforming into the form of a Blogger to spend some “quality time” with my new SMNHHBFF or (Semi Mutant New Heroes Hottie Best Friend Forever) Ray Park.

To begin, Ray is a man with amazing patience as it took THREE dropped calls to finally connect and get my “chat on” with G.I. Joe’s –Snake Eyes, X-Men’s Toad and did I mention that little known creation Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and its even lesser known creator some George Lucas where he (Ray) played the Seth Lord Dath Maul – Ok let me say it again - STAR WARS/GEORGE LUCAS… Kathump…yes the sound of yet another name being dropped!
Annnnnnnnnnnway, My Scottish Hottie was raised in the UK on fish and chips (I am making up the fish n chips part) and action films (that is a factoid). “Thanks to Lucas I was able to follow a dream” – He told me with no hint of ego (25 uber fab points as we love the humble hotties the most!)
But I would be nothing of a Blogger and dare I say self proclaimed Pop Culture Guru if I did not dig for the truth beneath the truth (Ughhh! Did I really write that?) Anywwwwwwwayy… This guy can act; he is deliciously well spoken, intelligent and does not take himself too seriously – yet we have never seen his face… I admit, I expected to pull up his photo and be staring at some evolutionary misfit…Ah NOT THE CASE…
Hottie alert!!! So why has he been “hiding” for the past 10 years? Ray certainly does not see it as hiding –“I worked with Lucas, I was given opportunity at 22 beyond my wildest dreams. I am lucky to be asked to create exciting characters with depth and yes for decade that has taken form under masks and make-up. Did I plan it that way? No, but it has gotten me to today and with Heroes and several other projects in the works I am not about to be complainin’ –
This guy is off the charts on the FAB O METER!!!
Fearing yet another dropped call I began to wrap things up but every now and again even this Blogger can be caught off guard…
1. Taken? Married (ok we can forgive)
2. Looking? (I had to ask…)
3.Boxers or briefs? (COMMANDO!!!)
What more could I possibly say other than…. WOW and thank you. Actually, Ray was more than delightful with his dry wit and unwavering honesty. Perhaps this season we still won’t save the cheerleader or the world, BUT, Ray Park has made me a Heroes fan once again!

Never Before Seen Photo- Sex & Blood last night at the HBO Post Emmy party
September 22, 2009
Can’t say how, can’t say when, just sayin’ thank you! Exclusive photo you saw it here first. Karma is uber fab I am blessed and always sharin my blessin’ with you
It was all Sex & Blood last night at the HBO Post Emmy party – with British action star Max Ryan (Universal’s “Death Race”)- the latest addition to the Sex And The City sequel (“crossing” Samantha’s path they call it!) and True Blood’s heart throb Stephen Moyers.

Anton Kasabov The Bulgarian Bombshell
September 20, 2009
Today I took a kickboxing class. I have enjoyed many flavors of exercise in my day but have always kept my distance from kickboxing and now I know why…Kickboxing = “kick and kick and kick until they carry me away in a pine box.” The Nazi, I mean instructor who left my hip-flexors somewhere in the far corner of the room was ruthless and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
After crawling back home and inserting two hip replacements from the kit I had ordered from Ebay I felt good as new and enjoyed a little chit-chat with my new BBLHHATMUFMBFF or (Bulgarian Bruce Lee Hybrid Hottie Actor Taekwondo Master Uber Fab Model Best Friend Forever.) Anton Kasabov!

With nearly 20 years as a Taekwondo expert Anton admitted it was hardly a traditional dream for a Bulgarian “lad” but after seeing a Bruce Lee movie at age 8 he was hooked. Clearly, this was not a guy who cared very much for the status quo. “I just don’t play by the rules, never have never will and sometimes family and friends don’t quiet get it…But in time they understand and see it is important to me!”

With next to no body fat (hating him!) and a desire to try and gain weight (hating him more) his endearing personality made me feel as if I was the only thing that mattered during this busy man’s life. Kasabov is no stranger to Tinsel Town or the big screen – sharing some celluloid with Jackie Chan in Rush Hour 3 and also showing what he was made of in Tekken based on the randomly Fab video game.
Does he want to be a Movie Star? Hmmm surely not in the traditional sense and he is the first one to explain he is “not out to reinvent the wheel”. With so many talents and unnerving good-looks he is now seriously studying acting and proud of his new indie short The Way of the Tiger…
I have the pleasure to speak to some remarkable people and each moves me in his/her own way…Anton was no exception as I felt I was in the “presence” of someone real, someone exciting and someone cutting-edge and on the edge of something extraordinary.
Anton, you reminded me everything is possible and rules are for other people! Bravo and thank you…
Take a look at this guy and visit him at www.antonkasabov.com he is rare, wonderful and yes a heapin’, heapin’ of eye candy!

Sebastian Siegel and the Pinto Factory
September 15, 2009
I have prided myself on offering my first-person reactions and interactions with the folks that make Tinsel Town sparkle. So while you know how I feel about those dreaded and dreadful reposts we see all too often from those OTHER SITES… I am also one to pass the torch when something soooo UBERLICIOUS comes along that I simply have to share.
Stefan Pinto has transformed his life and is one hell of a writer…Do we ALWAYS see eye to his well defined chest??? NOOOOOO, but am I certainly proud to call him my SOFSEBFF or (Smart Opinionated Funny Sexy Best Friend Forever) Yessss ! And in his recent article he was nice enough to share Sebastian Siegel…. Thank Youuuuuuuuu! While it might be difficult, don’t allow his “manliness” to burn your retinas, as this guy is pecs, abs, a face I want to have transplanted on mine and more than a just dash of insight and compassion that make him all the more compelling.
Thanks to both for allowing me to share their moment with you.
From a recent interview at the Pinto Factory
(Photos © John Ganun)
…Sebastian Siegel looked pensive as he gestures ever so slightly to the two girls seated across from us, his eyes motion in their direction. It’s a sunny day in Los Angeles, and as we sat on the patio of Urth Caffe in Beverly Hills, I can see, in that earnest stare, just how impassioned Sebastian Siegel is; about life, his career, the people he has met and finding his way.
Although I knew this question was rhetorical, I still maintained my curiosity. And as the waitress interrupts us with his food, I wait to see — to hear — and to learn more about what this actor turned model turned actor has to say about sacrifices, choices, goals and why so many people lack self esteem.
STEFAN PINTO: “Is that going to fill you?” Sebastian has ordered a green salad with a side of extra chicken, which the waitress has forgotten to bring.
SEBASTIAN SIEGEL: “Probably not. Are you going to get something?”
SP: “No, I’m doing a story on healthy meal replacement energy bars, and I just had one. Hey, do you want this bread-cake thing?” It’s a piece of corn bread that comes with my green tea espresso. Both taste wretched.
SS: [laughs] “That’s all yours.”
Our chat lasts for over two hours, and although the City of Beverly Hills chose to ticket me for parking in a broken meter, I remained auspicious in that sometimes life opportunities will knock, albeit softly; few people are fortunate to find a sage of wisdom, and if you’re really good at impersonating the Governor of California, people will stop what they’re doing and turn around to look
SP: In “The Family that Preys” your character’s wife dies, you lose your job and kids, and you end up living on the street. I read that you, Sebastian Siegel, once lived in your car. Do you find that you, or that many actors, are drawn to roles that sometimes echo [our] life’s struggles?
SS: I don’t, though I think anyone can identify with a sense of hopelessness from some moment or another in life. It’s part of that human thread that links us together — friends or strangers. Since the acting, or becoming, of a role comes after the character is written, I think that, “echoing of,” sense with a role comes in the creation process of it. I certainly identified with Nick, and in my homework found things I loved and hated about being him. In this case the writer, Tyler Perry, lived in his car and overcame enormous challenges – and the impetus for that overcoming was spawned from faith. I think he writes a lot of that into his characters, and I certainly explored that with this role. It’s the actors’ job to deliver what’s written, what comes from the mind of the writer, and in collaboration with the vision of the director.
SP: Events and situations, in and of themselves do not determine our future, it is our reaction and actions that ultimately shape our lives. As a child, it seems you didn’t “fit in” however you replaced that emotional void with exercise, in essence bettering yourself. Today’s youth–even young adults–seem inclined to fill voids with material possessions or worse, sacrificing their self-image for those of celebrities. What advice would you give to today’s generation for building up their self esteem and embracing their uniqueness?
SS: For me making mistakes was paramount, it still is. I’m the king of mistakes. I think in identifying your own individuality you have to feel out what fits and what doesn’t. Driving your own personal growth means reaching beyond your current capacity – but in that, you might find something greater than yourself that you aspire to. I think this is the essence of growth, and so for me it’s where I found, and still find a lot of esteem; reaching beyond myself to grow into more than I am. Of course pushing the envelope means that you’ll go too far sometimes, and you’ve got to be comfortable with that, with making mistakes, if you really want to live, really want to grow, really want to explore what it is to be you.
